Ghostbusters: The Video Game

Remember how awesome Ghostbusters, the movie was? Hilarious, wacky, violent, and full of cheesy looking and cheesier sounding weapons, it was a wonderful movie that still holds up strongly today. The good news is: The game is just as awesome, and in some cases moreso.

Alan Wake

Alan Wake is classified as a "Psychological Action Thriller". In fact, it's right on the box. But while I expected the story to have more questions than answers somewhere in the vicinity of Lost (it does), the atmosphere to be creepy like a Hitchcock movie based on Rosie O'Donnell (it is), and the enemies to pop out of nowhere in slow-motion waving their arms at you like a street vendor vying for your attention (check), I did not expect the gameplay to be any good. But you know what? I had fun.

 Lots of it, in fact.

Alan Wake

I found this game revolving way too much about a flashlight.

SPOILER ALERT!!!POILER ALERT!!!! SCROLL AT OWN RISK!!!!!

Splinter Cell: Conviction

I can't help but lump all Tom Clancy games into the same category. Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, it doesn't matter. You play a badass American dude trying to kill other dudes. Sometimes you do it all quiet-like; sometimes you do it by running into a room screaming and firing bullets in every direction; sometimes you go half and half, hiding behind a wall before you empty a clip into a group of bad guys. Either way, they're all the same, and all of them are great.

Dark Void

Imagine a third-rate cover-based third person shooter with bad weapon selection, bad enemies, and a terrible auto save feature. As you're playing it, even 20 minutes or so, take the disc out and put in a third-rate flight combat sim with bad controls, unbalanced enemies, frustrating radar, and a small amount of weapons. That's Dark Void.

Assassin's Creed 2

They had it, in their hands. They had an opportunity to merge three of the greatest game series of all times.

Assassin's Creed 2 - first Impressions

I don't play games quickly anymore. I get an hour a night, on average, MAYBE if I'm lucky. So consequently, I don't get to review games in their entirety in a timely manner. I think, though that a lot of people have this kind of time crunch in their personal lives. The average age of gamers has increased to 32. Our readers are, on average, not the kind of person who can play a video game for 48 hours straight. Therefore, I think my first impression reviews are pretty useful.

Bully: Scholarship Edition

Bully: Scholarship Edition is a very well executed concept that's plagued by the same nonsense that damaged Grand Theft Auto. It would have gotten a higher review if it didn't crash all the time and if the buttons did what it said on the screen they would do.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

Its no secret, I love super hero games.  I love them more when super heros are beating the tar out of each other.  And as such, I’ve occasionally said to myself “hey self, wouldn’t it be super neato if X-Men: Children of the Atom or maybe Marvel Super Heros were released on XBLA?  Well, our friends and overlords at Microsoft did me one better.  Possibly three.

XBOX 360 Remote Control

True XBOX Believers will cry "Sacrilidge!"  But my goal for buying an XBOX360 was not for the gaming per-se, but for the media center capabilities.  Having a wide variety of games is a plus, however, a plus I hope to get into soon!

Due to this outlook, however, my first "upgrade" was a used XBOX360 Media Remote Control.  And I must say I wouldn't want to do media on the XBOX360 without it.
