I'm not a first person shooter fan, and I'm not a PC game fan (mainly because my PCs have always and forever sucked until 6 months ago). I saw my roommate playing this game on a free weekend, Team Fortress 2. Usually FPSs look all alike, and are uninteresting for me (I have the twitchy responses of a slug, so having to spin about to shotgun something is not good for me). But for some reason, this game allured me. I think it was the non-realistic Norman Rockwell graphics, and the visual puns in the game. And the voice acting.

Well, I downloaded it on my Steam account and gave it a whirl. And have since accumulated over 48 hours of game play in 2 weeks. The game is fun, and addicting. If you die, oh well, you're respawning in 15 seconds or less, so the painful learning curve for noobs isn't too sharp. There's nine classes, from the walk in and shoot Heavy, to the stand back and heal Medic, to the backlines Engineer and his Sentry Gun... you're sure to find a class that fits your play style.

The game is massively more fun with a headset for voicechat, though. Voicechat is so useful for Team Fortress 2, that people are quite protective of not polluting the voicechat (on some servers). Finding a server that's fun for you can be difficult (there's only somewhere around 2000 to choose from, at the time of writing), but once you find one, you're gold.

I can't recommend this game enough. If you see a free weekend, get it and play it. Or if you have $20, buy it. TF2 is one of the few games that I give personal money back guarantees to my Real Life Friends: Buy it, and if you don't like it I'll pay you back. The last game I did that for was Portal.
